3 Spring Break Family Destinations for RV Travelers

spring break family destinationsAh, springtime! The frost begins to melt…the flowers begin to bloom…the pollen counts begin to rise (hey, no season is perfect). All this beauty and rebirth has a very peculiar effect on people. They smile more. Their brains and bodies start to slowly rouse themselves from the state of hibernation that Old Man Winter has driven them into, and they can feel their spirits rise in anticipation of warmer temperatures and all the activities that are associated with them. And if you’re an RV owner, something very peculiar happens: Your right foot gets itchy in anticipation of the feel of that gas pedal beneath it as you make your plans to hit the road and enjoy everything that springtime has to offer. With the first official day of spring just a few days away, RV owners everywhere are planning their first big excursion of the year. Safe-T-Plus is here to help with some recommendations for spring break family destinations that are sure to make your first RV trip of the year one to remember.

1. Crater of Diamonds State Park (Murfreesboro, Arkansas)

Tired of the same old family vacation? Sure, beaches and mountains are great, but how about a place where you and your family can actually dig for diamonds (and keep them if you find them)?! You can do just that at Crater of Diamonds State Park. According to its website, it’s “…the only diamond-producing site in the world open to the public.” If you tire of diamond mining, the park also offers other activities, including a wildlife observation blind, bank fishing, and a water park, just to name a few.

2. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

With golfing, deep-sea fishing, various festivals, plenty of live entertainment, and sixty miles of beaches, it’s little wonder why 14 million people visit Myrtle Beach each year. And if you’re looking for a place to park your RV, look no farther than Myrtle Beach Travel Park. There’s a water recreation area that features outdoor pools, an indoor pool, and even a “lazy river.” When you throw in basketball and beach volleyball courts, full utilities, wireless internet, and a host of family activities, the place has so much to offer that you may not ever make it to the beach!

3. National Cherry Blossom Festival (Washington, D.C.)

Commemorating the gift from Tokyo to Washington of 3,000 cherry trees in 1912, this festival heralds the beginning of spring in our nation’s capital. It lasts from March 20-April 14 and features a parade, a “Pink Tie Party,” and numerous outdoor events and workshops. You can stay at Cherry Hill Park, the closest RV park to D.C. It offers transportation to the city multiple times a day and features amenities like a hot tub, sauna, and mini golf.
